potential female users of financial services at two financial institutions in Guatemala and Honduras

Financial Education for All is an initiative that strengthens the financial well-being of women in Guatemala and Honduras through culturally relevant, gender-sensitive programs. In partnership with PRISMA and the FDL Foundation, two programs were designed: one on personal finance for users of financial services and another on business finance for women entrepreneurs. Both are offered in-person and through self-paced online formats. The project includes an educational toolkit with guides, infographics, podcasts, videos, and a digital chatbot to expand its reach. Additionally, staff at financial institutions were trained to ensure the model’s sustainability and promote greater use of gender-sensitive products and services.

Objectives

1 / 3

Integrate financial education into financial institutions in Guatemala and Honduras

To support financial institutions in Guatemala and Honduras in the design, adaptation, and validation of personal and business finance programs for women, through participatory assessments, workshops with female participants, and training of female trainers, ensuring their cultural relevance, gender-sensitive approach, and sustainability.

Strengthen capacities through accessible tools and formats

Implement programs in both in-person and virtual formats, complemented by an educational toolkit—guides, infographics, podcasts, videos, and a chatbot—that expands access and facilitates self-directed learning.

Promote sustainability through financial institutions

Train PRISMA and Fundación FDL staff to educate more women on personal and business finance, promoting greater use of gender-sensitive financial products and services.
