CECI has been operating in Senegal since 1984, focusing on the capacity building of civil society, sustainable rural development, food security, and gender equality. CECI-Senegal and its partners run several major programs in the country, such as Women’s Voice and Leadership (WVL-Senegal), Women and Resilient Agriculture (FAR), the Integrated Resilience Garden (JIR) and the Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP).
The environment and the impacts of climate change on populations, as well as gender equality, have been at the heart of CECI’s actions in Senegal since its initial commitment.

In partnership with women’s organizations and local communities, CECI-Senegal works to reduce gender inequalities and promote their access to education and health services. Our initiatives aim to create an environment conducive to the development of women, fighting gender-based violence and promoting their active participation in all aspects of social life.
CECI-Senegal empowers women economically by implementing innovative programs to overcome socioeconomic barriers. In collaboration with partners, we support initiatives fostering female entrepreneurship, economic access and vocational training. Through community engagement, our goal is to enhance women's financial independence, promote equal opportunities and cultivate environments conducive to their success.
CECI-Senegal promotes resilient agricultural practices that combine science with local knowledge and participatory processes. We encourage the use of renewable energy and strengthen the sustainable management of natural resources. Our programs also include climate risk awareness and training on adaptation strategies.
In collaboration with local communities, CECI-Senegal builds the capacity of local governance institutions to make them more inclusive and effective. Our initiatives also aim to reduce tensions, prevent conflict and build strong local democratic institutions.
