Settling In

It has been a little over 24 hours since I landed in Santa Cruz and in that time I've done a lot! I met with my fellow Uniterra Volunteer who arrived from Montreal in the Santa Cruz airport. From there we were taken to our hotel. We each got a private room (see picture) which is neat and clean (and most importantly, has a really comfortable bed!) As I mentioned in my previous post, we had a few hours to regroup before the day began. From then on, we hit the ground running. First it was meeting with one of the Volunteer Coordinators (and my primary liaison) from Uniterra that works here in Bolivia. The rest of the afternoon was spend meeting with the 3 of the staff members that I will be working with at the Fundacion Trabajo Empresa to get a general sense of what I'll be doing here. After a couple presentations from Uniterra, we explored a bit of Santa Cruz before returning to the hotel.  After dinner, I spent the evening unpacking and organizing my home for the next 3 weeks. It might have been the lack of sleep, but as I sat back down on my bed last night, I couldn't stop smiling. I am so excited. I have a really good feeling about this.
