20,316 people

This project is part of the World Food Program's (WFP) food assistance program. It aims to strengthen community resilience in the face of the adverse effects of recurrent food crises in the region.

By carrying out cash for work activities, communities recover degraded land and develop it for agricultural and pastoral use. Thus, they strengthen their productive capacities and fight crises better.

Results that count

Beyond the project’s objectives.

1,311

hectares of degraded land was recovered thanks to the making of 410,384 half-moons for agricultural and pastoral purposes

85%

of recovered land has been developed and sowed with varieties of improved cereal seeds

66,011

feet of trees have been planted on 187 hectares of land for pastoral purposes

3,085

households (20,316 people) have received monetary transfers during 4 months, which has enabled them to meet their immediate dietary needs in the midst of the lean period.
