Economic Empowerment and Improving Livelihood in Carrefour Feuilles (Kore Kafoufey)

Kore Kafoufèy facilitated the professional insertion of the most vulnerable young people of Carrefour-Feuilles. The project offered training, labour market information sessions, and support for job search.

The initiative focused on developing technical skills and expertise. The young participants were channelled into different careers based on their specific skills and through personalized support. Recognized professional and technical training centres offered training programs.

Most beneficiaries completed a professional internship, which in many cases led to employment. This important component of the project demonstrated that collaboration
between a development project and the domestic private sector can give tangible results.

To boost the neighbourhood's economic recovery and foster development opportunities for micro, small, and medium businesses, Kore Kafoufèy provided young entrepreneurs with significant technical and financial support. The project helped create and strengthen these small businesses, which in turn created more employment for other youth and community members. As a result, around a hundred people found employment in the supported micro enterprises, while others found greater job security in their existing role within these structures.

In addition to strengthening local businesses and creating new economic and entrepreneurial prospects for youth, Kore Kafoufèy helped lower unemployment in the area through new employment and self-employment opportunities. It further built trust in the business sector.

Different initiatives were launched in collaboration with the community and the local authorities, and with the actual participation of youth, in order to improve the
neighbourhood’s image and transform the negative perception it was the subject of. Among these initiatives, it is worth highlighting the creation and facilitation of some ten citizens' clubs with a mission to foster greater space for dialogue, solidarity, harmony and peace within the community. The physical aspect of the area was also improved through the rehabilitation of neighbourhood infrastructure for hygiene, water treatment, security and leisure. Kore Kafoufèy thus contributed to fostering a greater sense of belonging for the residents of this disadvantaged neighbourhood, and to improve its image for the business world and the rest of the city’s population.
