Montreal, April 13, 2022 - The Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) invites the general public to purchase tickets now for the Soirée d'humour solidaire with spokesperson Érich Preach and his guests to benefit the Grand Sud d'Haïti on May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Club Soda in Montreal. The Soirée d'humour solidaire brings together no less than 10 comedians: Charles Brunet, Mélanie Couture, Gino Durante, Jean-Michel Elie, Oussama Fares, Anas Hassouna, Garihanna Jean-Louis, Eddy King, Richardson Zephir and Erika Suarez. DJ Sweet La Rock will be in charge of the musical atmosphere.
All profits from the event will be donated to the reconstruction of Haiti's Grand Sud, which was severely affected by the earthquake in the summer of 2021.
CECI's first benefit show
" This new initiative by CECI is part of the new direction we want to take and calls on the Haitian diaspora in Montreal and Montrealers to promote the cause through a cultural event, " explains Philippe Dongier, CECI's Executive Director for the past year. " Reconstruction following a natural disaster such as the one that occurred last August always takes time, and we often intervene up to three or four years after the events. The support of the population remains relevant and essential ".
The organization's new spokesperson, dancer, host and comedian Erich Preach, has joined CECI to help carry the voice of the Haitian community, and will act as master of ceremonies for the evening on May 18, Haitian Flag Day.
"In talking with the CECI team about what would be the best way to do a fundraiser, it was clear to me that a comedy show was at the top of the list," he says. "All of the guests are performers I like to share the stage with and who make me laugh. There is not necessarily a theme between the acts. What unites us is a common desire to lend a hand to the cause. I can't wait to get on stage and perform this show! "
