CECI invites you to an online webinar about the documentary The Forgotten Women of the Great Lakes, winner of the best feature film award in the Acting for Equality category of the 2021 Visions of Africa festival.

The discussion will take place on November 25, 2021 at 12:00 pm (EST) and will be part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Trailer The Forgotten Women of the Great Lakes

Summary: Rape has been used as a real weapon of war during the conflicts that have ravaged the Great Lakes region in recent decades. Rwandan, Congolese and Burundian women testify with great courage, some for the first time. They call on the international community, the law of silence is finally broken: this is a sign that things are beginning to change.

During this discussion, members of CECI's team, employees and volunteers, will talk with director Joseph Bitamba and the protagonists of the feature film on the issues of equality between women and men and the fight against violence against women in various countries.

Those who register for the webinar will have password access to watch the feature film online during the week leading up to the event, starting November 18, 2021. 

This activity is part of the Quebec International Solidarity Days, which will take place this year during the entire month of November. The voluntary cooperation program is implemented by CECI, in partnership with implemented by CECI, in partnership with the Government of Canada.
