74th Edition of the International Seminar, Under the Banner of Female Entrepreneurship

The 74th edition of the International Seminar on Women Entrepreneurship was officially launched in Dakar, Senegal. Organized jointly by CECI and WUSC as part of the Uniterra program, this year’s seminar brings together for two weeks 20 young Senegalese and Canadian women entrepreneurs for an unforgettable experience of learning, networking and intercultural discovery.

Networking. Sharing. Building Enterprises.

The 20 young women entrepreneurs—11 Senegalese and 9 Canadian women—taking part in the International Seminar come from a variety of fields, from poultry farming to fashion. Until November 16, these women entrepreneurs will be visiting local business and attending peer-to-peer training sessions as they explore Senegal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This is the third time that Senegal has hosted the International Seminar, but it will be the first time it brings together young women entrepreneurs only. The collaborative group project they will be working on is intended to generate an original, innovative and interactive resource to encourage and equip women who want to become entrepreneurs. The participants are all very excited to share their knowledge and put it to good use to create this resource. They will also have the opportunity to consolidate their own businesses and strengthen their skills by establishing connections between local businesses and their own.

The next two weeks—which precede the Global Entrepreneurship Week, from November 18 to 24—will represent a key step in advancing and promoting women’s entrepreneurship, for the participants as well as for those who will benefit from the resource they will have created together.

The participants will document and share their experiences over social media using the hashtag #SISénégal2019. Stay tuned!
