Ongoing project
Funded by the Government of Québec
For the implementation of the project in Côte d’Ivoire
The Food Security and Agriculture: An Accelerated Adaptation Project (SAGA 2) aims to strengthen the implementation of climate adaptation for food security in three countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Haiti, and Senegal.
It responds to the call of the Paris Agreement and of the countries for more ambitious collaborative efforts to plan, implement, and monitor the adaptation component of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and their National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) for the agricultural sectors. As the second FAO project implemented thanks to a financial and technical partnership with the Government of Québec, SAGA 2 builds on the successes of the pilot phase (2019–2023) in Haiti and Senegal.
It mobilizes a broad network of partners at the international, national, and local levels, all committed to its implementation. The collaboration includes three universities and nine international cooperation organizations from Québec, working in association with their national and local partners in Côte d’Ivoire, Haiti, and Senegal. This interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder network creates a solid foundation for productive cooperation to adapt the agricultural sectors to climate change.
Thanks to the financial and implementation partners without whom this project could not be carried out:
