Restoring and strengthening the operational abilities of justice and public safety agents.
This project is part of the Plan d’Action pour le Relèvement et le Développement d’Haïti (PARDH) which aims for, among other things, the restoration and strengthening of the operational capacities of justice and public safety agents. It involves the reconstruction of four police stations destroyed after the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Gressier, Léogâne, Grand-Goâve and Côtes-de-Fer and a courthouse in Kenskof.
These structures take into account environmental parameters, notably seismic hazards, construction techniques, the project's impact on the environment, and the environment's impact on the project. The construction projects are turnkey, from design plans to the official opening of the buildings.
In addition to infrastructure, the project prioritizes human resources skills building (police, judges, administrative and maintenance staff) to improve police and judicial efficiency. This component supports access to professional services that are effective, accountable and respected by the populations of the municipalities served.
Strategy implementation is based on a four-component, integrated response: infrastructure construction, skills building for infrastructure maintenance, training in prevention/treatment in cases of violence against women and conflict mediation and transformation, as well as first aid training.
