Founded in 1958, CECI (Centre d'étude et de coopération internationale) is an international organization that works for sustainable and inclusive development.
CECI works to create an egalitarian and inclusive world without poverty.
At CECI, we aspire to a world where women, girls and their communities achieve shared and sustainable prosperity and wellbeing. Together with our partners, we co-create and support innovative solutions that strengthen the power and leadership of women, girls and vulnerable communities. These solutions contribute to developing inclusive, fair and effective economic and governance systems, climate change resilience and peacebuilding. Gender equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do.

As part of the CECI’s historic foundation, the design and implementation of programs in partnership with local actors are central to our work. These programs are co-constructed with partners and institutions — public, private, academic, and civil society — that support communities. They generate results across our impact areas and serve as a basis for knowledge production and advocacy efforts.
The integration of digital tools and artificial intelligence — for data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, or community participation throughout the program cycle — further strengthens the quality, effectiveness, and reach of our programs.
This lever is activated in partnership with academic and research institutions, local organizations, the private sector, and communities. Our gender-responsive results-measurement framework fuels a continuous learning dynamic. Building on the knowledge generated through our research and learning processes, we work with our partners to scale up solutions that create meaningful impact. We facilitate dialogue processes and the exchange of innovative practices, and we engage in evidence-based advocacy grounded in concrete experience.
A hallmark of the CECI’s identity, international volunteering is central to building connections between people and organizations and contributes to lasting transformation. It creates spaces for learning and reciprocity, enabling individuals to engage meaningfully in advancing inclusive and sustainable economies for women and young people, as well as in promoting the rights of women and girls.
By mobilizing diverse expertise from Canada and other countries, volunteering supports the development of context-appropriate solutions, fosters the testing of innovative practices, and contributes to durable change.
This lever aims to mobilize the CECI’s expertise in support of governments, development institutions, and the private sector, in order to broaden inclusive and sustainable economic opportunities and advance the rights of women and girls. Our advisory services focus on program design and implementation, the scaling of innovative solutions, and the reform of policies and institutions, all while integrating a gender-transformative approach.
They are grounded in concrete experience drawn from our programs and international volunteering initiatives, as well as from evidence-based results. Ultimately, this lever will also contribute to diversifying funding sources while positioning the CECI as a trusted and relevant actor in addressing regional priority needs.
