This event is part of Dialogues for Climate, a partner of CECI's Volunteer Cooperation Program.

As part of the Global Ethical Stocktake led by the COP30 presidency, this meeting provides an open space for dialogue to reflect together on the ethical issues at the heart of the climate crisis.

By bringing together voices from Indigenous communities, the Global South, trade unions, and academia, the event invites us to revisit our transition models, discuss differentiated responsibilities, and question the values that should guide climate action.

The goal: to put human, social, and ethical dimensions back at the center of climate decisions, beyond numbers, targets, and technical processes.

Panel objectives:

  • Connect the Global Ethical Stocktake to local and cross-sectoral reflection.
  • Explore perspectives on climate justice and just transition with Indigenous, union, academic, and international civil society voices.
  • Promote a decolonial and inclusive approach to climate negotiations, rooted in social and territorial realities.

Moderator: Ryoa Chung, outgoing President (2024-2025) of the Canadian Philosophical Association, Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Ethics, Professor at UdeM.

Panelists:

  • Dominique Bernier, Environmental Advisor, Centrale des syndicats du Québec
  • Albert Lalonde, Director of Research at the Future Generations Tribunal, David Suzuki Foundation, and youth delegate for AQOCI
  • Esther Djeigo, Country Representative and Coordinator of the Volunteer Cooperation Program in Benin, CECI
  • Alexandre Gajevic Sayegh, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Laval University, specializing in climate policy and just transition in Canada
