Towards strengthening women’s leadership in the face of climate challenges

Haiti

Women are at the heart of the actions of the project Koridò Vèt, implemented by the CECI-VTI consortium in the Baradères–Cayemites Protected Area complex. The project seeks to promote greater gender equality in environmental decision-making processes.

Through a sustainable, inclusive and community-driven approach, the project Koridò Vèt works to strengthen women’s leadership by increasing their involvement in natural resource management and environmental governance. By reinforcing women’s agency, they can exercise stronger leadership on climate issues, support their adoption within communities and contribute to social cohesion.

Discussion-based workshops were held with project support structures to strengthen the capacities of women and local stakeholders in the adoption of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and biodiversity conservation for sustainable land management.

Funded by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada, this project is implemented by the CECI-VTI consortium in the municipalities of Corail (Grand’Anse) and Baradères (Nippes), in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, the National Agency for Protected Areas (ANAP), as well as several local actors, including ACDIB, KOFAGA, FAC-Sud, ORE, SYACDEIN and the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) in Les Cayes.
