As part of a program follow-up visit in Haiti, CECI’s Director of International Programs carried out several visits across the country. These meetings with communities, local authorities, and partners provided an opportunity to review project progress while reaffirming the organization’s commitment to participatory, inclusive, and sustainable development.
Bonaventure Wakana, Director of International Programs at CECI, conducted exchange visits in March 2026 across several regions of the country, including areas where CECI implements projects. After arriving in the North on March 13, he met with staff and took the opportunity to recognize two colleagues celebrating ten years of service within the organization, before continuing his visits to other regions.
He also visited project sites in the Centre, North-East, South, and Grand’Anse departments. These visits created space for dialogue with local authorities, community-based organizations, and people involved in the projects, to discuss progress and future perspectives for community development.
Through these visits and exchanges, CECI reaffirms its commitment to strengthening a participatory approach that values listening, dialogue, and the active involvement of communities in planning and implementing actions for sustainable and inclusive development.
During his visit to the Grand Sud, Bonaventure Wakana took part in an official exchange meeting marking the launch of ravine and watershed management activities under the Koridò Vèt project, held in the municipality of Baradères.
The event brought together local authorities, organizations, and community members. It provided an opportunity to engage with project stakeholders, members of the local monitoring committee, women’s organizations, and local authorities on the implementation of the Koridò Vèt project, carried out by CECI and VTI with financial support from the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada.
Discussions were constructive. Local actors committed to active involvement in the project to achieve sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven results. The project aims to restore ecosystems, strengthen participatory governance, and strengthen women’s economic participation and leadership in the municipalities of Corail and Baradères.
