CECI Bolivia recognized as a “WEPs Ally” by UN Women

Bolivia

UN Women Bolivia and CECI Bolivia have signed an agreement to implement the WEPs Ally Pilot Initiative 2025–2026 of UN Women in Bolivia.

With this partnership, Bolivia becomes one of the five countries selected to participate in this pioneering program – and CECI becomes one of 6 organizations recognized as an Ally of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs Ally).

The integration of CECI Bolivia as a WEPs Ally is part of the TEA WEEB project (Gender-Transformative Ecosystem Approach for Women's Economic Empowerment in Bolivia), led by CECI and Fundación IES, and funded by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada. The objective of this project is to promote inclusive economic growth, prioritizing women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the environment in which they operate in Bolivia.

The Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a set of seven guidelines developed by UN Women to help businesses integrate gender equality and women's empowerment into their strategies and operations. These principles cover the following areas: high-level corporate leadership for equality, equity and non-discrimination in employment, health, safety, and well-being of staff, investment in education and training for women's professional advancement, supporting women in the value chain and through business practices, community engagement and advocacy for equality, and finally, measuring and communicating progress.

This commitment recognizes CECI Bolivia as a strategic partner in promoting the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), with the objective of fostering inclusive and egalitarian work environments.

As part of this alliance, CECI Bolivia will:

✔ Contribute to the co-creation of knowledge on the WEPs

✔ Facilitate spaces for dialogue with the WEPs Community

✔ Promote gender equality in MSMEs by applying the Gender+ Toolkit

✔ Mobilize key stakeholders to broaden the adoption of the WEPs in the private sector

This alliance aims to mobilize the entrepreneurial sector around inclusive, egalitarian, and discrimination-free environments, while directly contributing to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
