Under the supervision of the Communications and Philanthropic Development Department contributes to the implementation of the organization's fundraising program. He or she ensures quality service to donors and oversees efficient database management. The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to establish and maintain strong relationshipswith our donors, solicitors and volunteers. He or she will also be called upon to support and work in close collaboration with the members of the communications and development team.

Main responsibilities

Development and donor relations

● In collaboration with the Senior Consultant, responds to philanthropic development requests and philanthropic development, including :

  • Supports the development of fundraising strategies and operating plans.
  • Implements the fundraising operational plan to ensure that the organization achieves the objectives of its strategies and annual and long-term plans.

● Works and collaborates to increase the number of donors of all sectors and types, in line with type, in line with expectations, including :

  • Establishes and maintains positive and effective relationships with existing donors with the aim of fostering their loyalty.
  • Develops and maintains positive and effective relationships with potential donors.
  • Implements the recognition program specific to each solicitation campaign.
  • Contributes to the implementation of the annual campaign.
  • Is responsible for recruiting new donors, either “on the street” or “face-to-face” campaigns.

● Manages relations with canvassers and/or volunteers:

  • Responsible for coordinating canvassers and/or volunteers in fundraising campaigns and fundraising campaigns and activities, such as kiosks or third-party initiatives.
  • Recruits, trains and supervises canvassers and/or volunteers;

● Is responsible for coordinating with various service providers during direct mail campaigns

● Is responsible for coordination with the various service providers during direct mail campaigns, whether by post or e-mail, or “on the street” recruitment campaigns;

● Is responsible for ensuring that all materials required for the various campaigns, including events, is available in sufficient quality and quantity.

● Proactively analyzes all campaigns and activities on a regular basis, keeping the Senior keeping the Senior Development Consultant informed on a regular basis.


Database and donation processing
● Is responsible for maintaining and constantly improving the database:

  • Ensures that the database is appropriately updated by ensuring prompt and accurate
    processing of all donations and the production of acknowledgements, charitable letters and receipts.
  • Proactively participates in the development and implementation of improvements to the database.
  • Responds to technical support requests and liaises with IT department when necessary.
  • Ensures the import of data from other platforms.
  • Ensures that the database is maintained and cleaned according to procedures:
    duplicates, empty customer records, management of returned mail and e-mails (newsletter), etc.
  • Ensures weekly database backup.
  • Participates, as required, in the accurate entry of donations into the database.
  • Ensures proper receipt of donations and other receipts for all solicitation activities.
  • Carries out the necessary tasks requested by the accounting department to ensure deposits with banking institutions.

And if you have :

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, administration or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Certificate in philanthropy an asset.
  • At least four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in soliciting donations from the public.
  • Excellent technological skills (ProDon, Raiser's Edge, CRM, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Intermediate level of English to communicate with international colleagues.
  • Knowledge of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Act and regulations, and not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
